1. Project Overview
Oral health is an integral part of overall health and well-being, yet it remains one of the most neglected aspects of healthcare, particularly among economically weaker and underserved communities. Dental diseases such as tooth decay, gum infections, oral cancers, malocclusion, and untreated dental trauma affect millions of individuals, often leading to chronic pain, difficulty in eating and speaking, reduced self-confidence, and a significant decline in quality of life. Unfortunately, the high cost of dental treatment and limited access to quality dental care prevent many people from seeking timely intervention.
Mission Muskaan is a flagship initiative of JAP TAP SEWA Healthcare Foundation dedicated to establishing a Charitable Dental Care Centre that provides affordable, high-quality, and comprehensive oral healthcare services to individuals and families irrespective of their financial background. The Centre will be equipped with modern dental infrastructure and staffed by experienced dental professionals committed to delivering preventive, restorative, and rehabilitative dental care with compassion and excellence.
Beyond clinical treatment, Mission Muskaan will actively promote oral health awareness through community outreach programmes, school dental health initiatives, preventive screenings, tobacco cessation counselling, and oral cancer awareness campaigns. The Centre will also emphasize early diagnosis, preventive care, and patient education to reduce the burden of preventable dental diseases.

2. Why This Project? (Need Assessment)
Oral diseases continue to be among the most common health conditions affecting children, adults, and senior citizens. Despite being largely preventable, many dental problems remain untreated due to lack of awareness, fear of treatment, financial limitations, and inadequate access to affordable dental services.
Poor oral hygiene is closely associated with several systemic health conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory infections, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Tobacco consumption has also contributed to the growing incidence of oral cancers, particularly in India, making preventive education and early detection increasingly important.
Children frequently suffer from untreated dental caries that affect nutrition, concentration, and academic performance, while senior citizens often experience tooth loss and gum diseases that compromise their overall health and dignity.
