1. Project Overview
The healthcare sector depends heavily on the continuous availability of high-quality medical consumables that are essential for patient care, infection prevention, emergency response, and healthcare delivery. Products such as surgical masks, disposable gowns, PPE kits, bandages, sterile dressings, medical drapes, examination gloves, and other healthcare essentials are used daily across hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centres, nursing homes, and community health programmes. At the same time, there is a growing need to create sustainable employment opportunities for youth, women, and economically disadvantaged communities through skill-based manufacturing initiatives.
Mission Suraksha is a flagship initiative of JAP TAP SEWA Healthcare Foundation dedicated to establishing a Healthcare Manufacturing & Livelihood Centre that combines healthcare manufacturing with skill development and employment generation. The Centre will train and employ local youth and women in the production of quality medical consumables while promoting entrepreneurship, technical skills, and economic empowerment.
Designed as a socially responsible manufacturing ecosystem, the project will adhere to stringent quality standards and safe manufacturing practices, ensuring that healthcare institutions receive reliable products while creating meaningful livelihood opportunities for underserved communities. The Centre will also support the Foundation’s healthcare initiatives by ensuring the availability of affordable consumables for medical camps, charitable clinics, dialysis centres, eye care programmes, dental services, and emergency response activities.
Mission Suraksha envisions building a self-sustaining social enterprise where every product manufactured contributes not only to safer healthcare but also to stronger livelihoods and healthier communities.
2. Why This Project? (Need Assessment)
Healthcare systems rely on uninterrupted access to quality medical consumables to deliver safe and effective patient care. However, supply chain disruptions, fluctuating market prices, and increasing demand often affect the availability and affordability of essential healthcare products. Simultaneously, many young people and women continue to face limited employment opportunities despite having the willingness to learn practical vocational skills.
There is an increasing need for employment-oriented skill development programmes that prepare individuals for stable careers while supporting essential healthcare infrastructure. Establishing local manufacturing capacity creates economic opportunities, strengthens healthcare supply chains, and reduces dependence on external sources for basic medical consumables.
