MISSION SANJEEVANI

Mobile Health Unit & Telemedicine Centre

“Delivering Healthcare Beyond Boundaries.”

1. Project Overview

Access to quality healthcare remains a significant challenge for millions of people living in rural, remote, and underserved communities. Geographic isolation, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, shortage of qualified medical professionals, and financial limitations often prevent individuals from receiving timely medical attention. These barriers result in delayed diagnosis, untreated illnesses, avoidable complications, and diminished quality of life.

Mission Sanjeevani is a flagship healthcare initiative of JAP TAP SEWA Healthcare Foundation designed to bridge this gap by bringing essential healthcare services directly to the communities that need them most. The project combines a fully equipped Mobile Health Unit with a state-of-the-art Telemedicine Centre, creating an integrated healthcare delivery model that extends medical expertise beyond the walls of hospitals and clinics.

The Mobile Health Unit will travel to villages, urban slums, schools, industrial areas, old-age homes, and other underserved locations on a scheduled basis, offering primary healthcare services, preventive health screenings, basic diagnostic support, health education, and access to affordable medicines. Through the Telemedicine Centre, patients requiring specialist consultation will be connected virtually with experienced doctors across multiple medical specialties, enabling expert medical advice without the burden of long-distance travel.

By combining mobility, digital technology, and compassionate healthcare, Mission Sanjeevani aims to ensure that quality medical care reaches every individual, regardless of geographical or economic barriers. The initiative is committed to promoting preventive healthcare, encouraging early diagnosis, reducing avoidable healthcare expenses, and fostering healthier, more resilient communities.

2. Why This Project? (Need Assessment)

Despite continuous advancements in the healthcare sector, access to timely and affordable medical care remains a persistent challenge for many communities. Rural populations, urban slum residents, senior citizens, women, persons with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged families often struggle to access healthcare due to distance, limited transportation, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and the scarcity of specialist medical services.

Many individuals postpone medical consultations until their conditions become severe, resulting in increased health complications and financial burden. For patients living with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory disorders, and other long-term conditions, regular follow-up care is often difficult to obtain, leading to poor disease management and preventable hospitalizations.

Mission Sanjeevani addresses these challenges by bringing healthcare directly to the people rather than expecting patients to travel long distances. Through a mobile healthcare unit supported by telemedicine technology, the project ensures that quality consultations, preventive screenings, specialist opinions, health education, and follow-up care are accessible within the community itself. This integrated approach not only improves healthcare accessibility but also promotes early intervention, timely treatment, and long-term health management, ultimately reducing health inequalities and improving community well-being.
