Centre of Excellence for Emergency Preparedness & Life Saving Skills
“Every Citizen Trained. Every Life Protected.”
1. Project Overview
Emergencies can occur anytime and anywhere, often within the first few critical minutes when immediate action determines whether a life is saved or lost. Cardiac arrest, choking, road traffic accidents, burns, fractures, drowning, natural disasters, fire incidents, workplace emergencies, and medical crises require prompt and appropriate first response. Unfortunately, many lives are lost or permanently affected because bystanders lack the knowledge, confidence, and skills to respond effectively before professional medical assistance arrives.
Mission Rakshak is a flagship initiative of JAP TAP SEWA Healthcare Foundation dedicated to establishing a Centre of Excellence for Emergency Preparedness & Life Saving Skills. The Academy will train citizens, students, healthcare workers, teachers, industrial employees, security personnel, volunteers, and community leaders in internationally accepted emergency response techniques, enabling them to become confident first responders within their communities.
The Centre will provide structured training programmes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, trauma management, disaster preparedness, fire safety, emergency evacuation, workplace emergency response, and basic life support. Through practical simulation-based learning, mock drills, certification programmes, and community outreach, Mission Rakshak will develop a network of trained community responders capable of providing immediate assistance during emergencies until professional medical teams arrive.
Mission Rakshak envisions creating safer communities where every trained individual becomes a lifesaver, contributing to stronger emergency preparedness and a more resilient society.
2. Why This Project? (Need Assessment)
Every year, countless lives are lost due to delayed emergency response rather than the severity of the incident itself. In cases of cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, choking, burns, trauma, and other medical emergencies, immediate intervention during the first few minutes significantly improves survival and recovery. However, most people have never received formal training in emergency response and often hesitate to help because they fear causing harm or simply do not know what to do.
Schools, colleges, workplaces, industries, public institutions, residential communities, and rural areas frequently lack trained first responders. Natural disasters and large public gatherings further emphasize the importance of community preparedness and coordinated emergency response.
Mission Rakshak addresses this gap by equipping ordinary citizens with life-saving knowledge and practical skills. By building a trained network of community responders, the project strengthens emergency preparedness, reduces preventable deaths, promotes public confidence, and creates a culture where helping others during emergencies becomes a shared community responsibility.
